Co-create. Grow. Connect. Contribute. Thrive.
In University Honors, we know that we are stronger together. This is seen most clearly with the network of student leaders that serve as the foundation of UH. The University Honors Leadership Network is constantly growing and changing to meet the needs of students, alumni, and the program as a whole.
With student leadership positions, University Honors students develop critical skills, knowledge, and attitudes that help direct their professional and personal futures. UH student leaders engage in trainings and development sessions that hone their approaches to leadership; and implement and practice these skills through peer-to-peer mentoring and coaching.
Peer leaders are the beating heart of the Leadership Network. Student leaders build relationships around a shared vision and purpose, and often stay connected to fellow leaders and mentees for years to come. Leadership positions are a great way to become more connected to peers, staff, faculty, and opportunities at the university.
Peer leaders shape the experience of new UH students in ways that help determine their success at UMD. Whether it is by developing a UH tradition that students will enjoy for years to come, helping a new student in a class they are struggling with, or helping an incoming student navigate living away from home for the first time, leadership positions provide the opportunity to make a lasting impact.
We know that students thrive when they feel invested in their university community. Contributors to the University Honors Leadership Network excel not only within UH, but also at UMD, in their home communities, and beyond. Student leaders take what they learned in UH out into the larger world and apply those skills to reach their goals and create meaningful change.
