Lead in UH

Speakers of the House

The Speakers of the House are responsible for representing and advocating on behalf of their house. Speakers help plan activities, events, and opportunities to engage other students in their house; promote and support the House Cup; encourage involvement in UH; create and promote house traditions; and build camaraderie and house spirit.

Each of the four houses is led by one Speaker. The four Speakers also collaborate in support of the House Cup competition. The Speakers provide feedback on the House Cup activities and work to ensure the House Cup is interwoven into the life of the program.

Why Become the Speaker of Your House?

While the House program promotes community and belonging in University Honors, it requires leadership and guidance at the peer level. The Speakers of the House provide that leadership. This role offers a fantastic way to build community, plan events, and create long lasting traditions for UH students.

Become the Speaker

All current UH students who have not yet received their Honors citations are eligible to apply and run to become the Speaker of their House. Speakers are elected by their peers. Applications are invited late in Spring Semester. Inquiries may be directed to Assistant Director for Student Life, Chelsea Bradford. Watch this space for more details!
