Advising Mentors

Our Advising Mentors are University Honors student leaders, continuing a longstanding Maryland Honors tradition of students helping students. 

UH sophomores, juniors, and seniors may volunteer to provide support to fellow UH students as Advising Mentors (serving as a mentor for students seeking major or personal advice on campus). All UH students are eligible and welcome to receive support from these mentors.

Advising Mentor responsibilities include:

  • Student-Centered AdvisingProvide advice by major (ex. course sequencing, instructor and classroom recommendations, etc.)
  • Allyship and SupportProvide non-academic allyship and support for students
  • Academic Engagement EffortsWork alongside the Assistant Director of Academic Life to support all academic engagement efforts and messaging
