Lead in UH

Student Board

Student co-creation is central to the mission, values, and ethos of University Honors. The University Honors Student Advisory Board (UHSB) serves as the most senior representative body for UH students to the program, the Honors College, and the larger university.

The UHSB plays a critical role in student-led decision-making within the program, serves as the primary source of student counsel to the Director and program staff, collaborates on strategic initiatives, and represents students in the program at various events (e.g., open houses, summer orientation, Welcome Weekend). UHSB standing committees include: Program Coordination, Marketing & Communications, and Strategy & Development.

The Board’s central responsibilities include:

  • Advising on program policies and procedures related to academic and student life
  • Fostering a positive and constructive relationship between students, staff, and faculty
  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of program events, projects, and initiatives
  • Serving as liaison between student organizations, such as the Peer Academic Leaders, Student Life Council, and Peer Mentor Network

Why Join the University Honors Student Board?

Getting involved with the UHSB is a great way to contribute to the program, build your leadership and skills, and acquire the experience of serving on a decision-making executive board. Serving on the UHSB is one of the primary ways to ensure that you have an impact on UH and leave a legacy during your time at UMD.
