Today, Friday June 19, is Juneteenth. This holiday acknowledges the date that the last enslaved African Americans were freed in the state of Texas in 1865.

While 155 years have passed since that date in 1865, we know that there is still a tremendous amount of work that must be done in the fight for racial justice in America.

As a University Honors team, today we renew our commitment to challenging systemic oppression, structural racism, and white supremacy.

We, along with the university partners across campus, continue to work to find ways to amplify the voices of our students and to help move this vital work forward.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion regularly has resources, events, and opportunities to connect around these issues.
