Zachary Dorner is a historian of medicine and power. He received his BA in Biology and History from Dartmouth College and his PhD in History from Brown University. Before coming to University Honors, Zachary lectured in the history department at Stanford University and was Patrick Henry Postdoctoral Fellow in the history department at Johns Hopkins University. He is author of Merchants of Medicines: The Commerce and Coercion of Health in Britain’s Long Eighteenth Century (University of Chicago Press, 2020), which roots the emergence of a bulk, modern healthcare system and its attendant ideas of racial difference in early modern state policy, bound labor, credit instruments, and warfare.
