Robert Graham holds a PhD in Education with a policy focus from George Mason University. His doctoral training includes qualitative investigation of policies and practices that guide institutions, the effects of policy decisions on the experiences of differing student populations, and the dynamics between educational institutions and society at large. He was previously a term assistant professor of humanities at George Mason University where he taught American Cultures, Research Methods, and transition courses. His research interests bring together an Africana Studies framework and decolonizing methodologies to interrogate race, education, citizenship, freedom, and ways of knowing. His approach to teaching seeks to deepen our understanding of American constructions of difference through the convergence of historical contextualization, cultural and sociological scholarship, and first-hand accounts of the populations of interest.
