Kristy Maddux is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication. Her research and teaching focus on U.S. rhetoric and political culture, especially thinking about democratic habits and practices of citizenship among marginalized groups. Her current research considers how urban design facilitates and constrains opportunities for democratic citizenship. She is the author of two books, as well as numerous articles published in Rhetoric & Public Affairs, Feminist Media Studies, Philosophy & Rhetoric, and other scholarly outlets.
