Christine A. Jones

Biography

Christine Jones is the Associate Director for Academic & Faculty Affairs, and Affiliate Professor of French and Italian. Jones oversees the creation, management, and assessment of academic programming for University Honors. Before coming to Maryland, Jones was a professor of French at the University of Utah. Over a 20-year career, she taught in French Studies, Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies, and Honors, and was awarded the University Distinguished Teaching Award in 2014. Jones is a literary specialist of 17th-18th-century France with a focus on the fairy tale and material culture. She has co-edited anthologies of world tales, translated Charles Perrault’s 1690s Mother Goose tales, published a monograph on the early porcelain industry in France, and blogged about chocolate. Jones holds a BA in Philosophy and Honors from Villanova University, and an MA and PhD in French Literature from Princeton University, and is a life-long learner of permaculture and yoga.
