Jon Crocker is a Clinical Professor at the University of Maryland at the Robert H. Smith School of Business in the department of Logistics, Business and Public Policy. His academic and research interests include the use of international trade to foster sustainable development, and he teaches primarily graduate level courses in managerial economics, sustainability, negotiations, and business law to management executives. For Spring 2025 he is introducing a new course in Globalization and Sustainability for the University Honors program. Professor Crocker returned to UMD after a successful career in the U.S. military with overseas service in Europe and Afghanistan. While in Bosnia he served in support of the United Nation International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and was instrumental in the capture and detention of indicted war criminals by NATO forces. With retirement from the military, he began a corporate law practice on behalf of global conglomerates LG Group of Seoul, South Korea and Xerox Parc in Palo Alto, California as a trial lawyer for intellectual property and contract disputes. His client list also included international K-pop celebrities JYP and Rain 정지훈 (Bi). Based within an AmLaw top 200 law firm in Washington, DC he concluded his legal career with over 200 appearances, exclusively in federal courts, ranging across the country from Delaware to East Texas, and Northern California to Hawai’i.
