Biography

Jessica McKechnie holds a PhD in Counselor Education from the University of Maryland, College Park and is currently Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Counseling, Higher Education, and Special Education at the University of Maryland. Dr. McKechnie’s research interests include professional school counselor training needs, disability studies, and advocacy for immigrant students. Her teaching interests center on school counseling, field experience, and disability culture. Dr. McKechnie recently published an article on experiential learning in school counselor preparation that was published in The Journal of Counselor Preparation and Supervision. She has been involved with the Honors College since 2018.
