We’re thrilled you’ve decided to join us! As an incoming student, you should plan to attend a New Student Orientation this summer, and we strongly recommend registering for one of the three sessions devoted specifically to first-year Honors students if you can.

During the University Honors breakout session, you will meet fellow UH students and staff, learn about leadership opportunities within the program, and register for your first semester of classes.

New Student Checklist
Before Orientation
- Confirm your enrollment to UMD
- If you plan to live on campus, make sure to submit your Housing & Dining Agreement by May 1st
- Register for New Student Orientation
- Add our email address (university-honors@umd.edu) to your contacts so you won’t miss any important email communications
- Follow UH on Instagram and LinkedIn to stay connected
During Orientation
- Register for HNUH100: Gateway Seminar
- Check here to see if your major requires you to also register for UNIV100
- Consider registering for an HNUH2xx course that interests you and fits into your schedule
- Remember: You can change your schedule after orientation, but we highly recommend checking in with your major advisor AND with Mr. Middleton before making any major adjustments
After Orientation
- Start checking your Terpmail account
- Review the UH Orientation videos
- Watch out for an email from your Peer Academic Leader (PAL) in early August
- Pack your UH Deck and bring it to your first HNUH100 class to get 200 House Cup points!
- If you were unable to attend an orientation session, you may pick up your UH Deck in the UH Commons during Welcome Week
