Lead Fellow: Craft + Technology

Professor Matthew McLaughlin is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of art at the University of Maryland. He received his MFA in Printmaking from Arizona State University in 2011. His research interest focuses on our understanding of space and place in relationship to the public and private through imagery exploring proxemics, cartography, information science and data representation in mapping. He teaches courses in drawing, design, printmaking and art theory to undergraduates while advising graduate students in their own studio practice. He has had over 10 solo exhibitions since 2011 and participated in over 100 national and international group exhibitions. His work is in the collection of the Library of Congress, Georgetown Medstar Hospital Center and numerous university collections. He received the Clarvit Research Fellowship from the University of Maryland as well as the Individual Artist Grant from the Maryland State Arts Council.
