Kim, a creative writer, holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Oregon State University and is a former Terp (MEd in College Student Personnel). Most recently, she held the position of Vice Provost in the Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success at the University of Oregon and was a lecturer at Oregon State University Cascades. Her YA novels have won numerous awards, including the L.A. Times Book Prize and Scott Odell Award for Historical Fiction for The Color of a Lie. She has an exceptional range of experience in campus administration, with particular expertise in advising and engagement initiatives. Along with her practice as a writer of social thrillers that confront systemic injustices, her pedagogical interests include storytelling as an act of defiance, empowerment, and truth-telling. She enjoys book talks, art and culture events, long walks, meditation, and of course, reading a new book. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
