As Assistant Director for Student Achievement, Dean Hebert serves as a resource to University Honors students as they pursue their honors citations and oversees data systems, course registration, and scheduling efforts for the program. Hebert (“Dean is my first name, not my title”) has been with the Honors College since 1994. He has coordinated advising services; Banneker-Key faculty partnerships; academic tracking and Citation eligibility; and the Honors daily listserv/blog, which houses hundreds of internship and research opportunities for students. He completed a B.A. in English in three years and won Washington College's Sophie Kerr Prize, the nation’s largest literary prize awarded solely to undergraduate students, in 1988. He earned an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Maryland in 1993. His fiction has appeared in the Washington Post Magazine and the Delmarva Review.
