Lauren R. Cannady holds a PhD in Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. She was previously a postdoctoral fellow at the Huntington Library and Assistant Director of the Research and Academic Program at the Clark Art Institute. In her research and teaching, she explores artistic production as the material evidence of intellectual trends in early modern Europe and colonial America. Cannady is completing a manuscript on northern European patterned gardens as sites of knowledge production and transmission. She has also published on comparative and visual thinking in the space of an early eighteenth-century curiosity cabinet and is co-editor of a forthcoming volume on artisanal histories and transnational networks of the long eighteenth century.
